According to Mudgala puraana there are eght important intcarnations of lord Ganesha Viz.

1 Vakratunda
2 Ekadanta
3 Mahodara
4 Gajaanana
5 Lambodara
6 Vikata
7 Vighnaraja
8 Dhoomravarna

Though there are different myths behind each incarnations, which are mostly philosophical in nature, the
idea behind each incarnation prestented in this puraana is almost identical. The main them of this purana
is the control of eight Vikaaraas(feelings) of the mind VIz.

1 Matsara(Joy)
2 mada(Excitement)
3 Moha(Desire)
4 Lobha(Greed)
5 Krodha(Anger)
6 Kama(Lust)
7 Mamaa(Attachment)
8 Abhimaana(Self Pride)
